Information for General Practice

The After Hours GP Clinic in Box Hill is a fully accredited cooperative venture with local GPs. The clinic relieves the burden on both general practices and emergency departments by ensuring after hours access to GP care for all patients. With the patient’s consent, information relating to their consultation is sent to their usual practitioner immediately by fax, mail or secure mail, thereby giving the continuity of your care back to their own GP.

Importantly, our service is designed to complement yours, and as such, we do not have our own regular patient cohort and do not provide ongoing care. All patients are referred back to their own GP for follow-up after a consultation or encouraged to establish a relationship with a local GP if they don’t already have one.

Diversion of General Practice phones to AHGPC

We are pleased to be able to provide local general practices, the option to divert their phones through to the AHGPC when their practice is closed, free of charge, in order to provide your patients with access to a variety of convenient after hours GP care options.

*Note: Your telephone service provider may/ may not charge diverting practice a local call fee for each diversion, depending on your phone plan.

When the AHGPC is open, all incoming patient calls are offered the opportunity to either come into our practice to see a GP, or provided with information regarding alternatives for local after hours care, such as speaking to Nurse on call, GP on call, or diverting their call through to the GPs preferred locum provider to book a home GP visit.
